A Liquid Facelift is a non-surgical procedure that creates a younger, refreshed appearance using primarily facial fillers, BOTOX® Cosmetic, and other new products such as KYBELLA®. Utilizing advanced injection techniques and detailed knowledge of the facial anatomy, Dr. Peters can correct those areas that are associated with aging.
Benefits of a Liquid Facelift
- Addresses specific areas of the aging face
- Procedure is done in the office
- No surgery
- Minimal recovery
- Filler products are “reversible”
Dr. Peters will spend time to discuss your concerns, identify specific areas of aging, and manage expectations. It is important to understand the results that can be achieved in a Liquid Face Lift are different than those undergoing surgical correction. By using his experience of almost 20 years as a plastic surgeon, he will be able to determine if a Liquid Facelift is appropriate for you. Each patient will receive a customized plan and a financial estimate provided to you.
BOTOX® Cosmetic is the most commonly performed non-surgical procedure, which works to produce a more youthful appearance by smoothing away lines and wrinkles as well as contouring treated areas such as the eyebrows. The effect of BOTOX® Cosmetic, however, is relatively short; lasting about three months. Thus, to maintain this aspect of the Liquid Facelift, BOTOX® Cosmetic will need to be administered about every three to four months.
JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC is the most advanced soft tissue filler containing hyaluronic acid. Utilizing a patented technology, this product serves more like an “expander/lifter” rather than simply filling. JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC often serves as the cornerstone of the Liquid Facelift. The product provides expansion of the tissues above it which will subsequently lift the tissues below it. The effects have been demonstrated to last at least two years.
JUVÉDERM® XC and JUVÉDERN® Ultra XC behave similarly and are used to “fill” or augment the tissue. These fillers are typically used to diminish the appearance of folds or provide more definition and volume for the lips. When advanced injection techniques are utilized, they become versatile tools in addressing signs of aging such as hollowed temples or flat eyebrow contour. These products typically are associated with more swelling after injection lasting about two to three days before subsiding. These products will last about 1 to 1½ years.
KYBELLA® is the newest product. Its role in the Liquid Facelift is well defined and not indicated for all patients. Specifically, it will remove the fat under the chin, also known as a double chin. To achieve satisfying results, it usually requires at least two treatments about four to six weeks apart. These results will likely be permanent unless substantial weight gain occurs.
The Liquid Facelift is a customized procedure using a variety of treatments to best achieve the best outcome. After you and Dr. Peters determine your treatment plan, a financial estimate will be provided to you. The procedure is performed in Dr. Peters’ office. The time it takes to perform a Liquid Facelift varies but is usually less than 30 minutes. For those requesting topical anesthetic, an additional 30 minutes is required.
Recovery and Results
After the procedure, you may drive home unless medications prevent doing this safely. An ice pack is provided and recommended for the first 24 hours. You are asked to avoid strenuous activity and exercise for 24 hours as well. Bruising and swelling are the most common complications of the Liquid Facelift. Dr. Peters recommends using supplements such as bromelain or Arnica montana to attempt to minimize the swelling and bruising. After about four to six weeks, you should begin to appreciate the effects your Liquid Facelift had on creating a more youthful, refreshed appearance.
