The medical term for an Arm Lift is Brachioplasty.  The Arm Lift procedure is designed to remove loose, sagging and excess skin or fatty deposits from the upper arms.  The skin of the upper arm is not as elastic as other areas of the body, so when it becomes stretched out, the skin will remain loose and flabby.   The Arm Lift will tighten the skin and improve the “bat-wing” look. Liposuction can also be used to contour the arms. The combination of these two will achieve the best results.

Many men and women become discouraged by their upper arm skin as they gain or lose weight and age.  Even after working out consistently, you may find that you cannot tighten up the skin that now hangs under your arms. While you can improve your upper arm appearance and muscle tone, the sagging skin will remain a problem that cannot be solved through exercise alone.

The Arm Lift procedure typically requires an incision from the armpit to the elbow located along the inner part of the arm. Occasionally, the incision can be limited only to the armpit.  After the procedure, you will have visible scars along the insides of your arms that can extend to as far as your elbow. Dr. Peters cannot predict or guarantee how your scars will look or heal.

Compression sleeves may be required following the Arm Lift procedure.  Patients will wear this for approximately 6 weeks. Recovery varies from person to person, but you should expect to take 2-3 weeks before you are able to do the day-to-day chores easily.

After surgery and healing time you can expect to look much better in form-fitting clothes and have increased confidence in your appearance.  Short sleeve or strapless clothing may become comfortable for you again!
