Miraculous Medical Breakthrough with Facial Transplant

Pat Hardison Face Transplant

Miraculous breakthroughs in the world of cosmetic surgery over the past several years have culminated in a successful face transplant. The patient’s name is Pat Hardison, and he was a volunteer fireman in Senatobia, Mississippi. He was severely burned in a fire that he was battling back in 2001. His injuries were so severe that his ears and eyelids had been burned off.

In 2015, Fourteen years after this tragedy, he received a complete face transplant during a reconstructive surgery at New York Langone Medical Center. The surgery took 26 hours and involved a team of over 100 medical professionals. The face was that of a Brooklyn bike mechanic who had been declared brain dead after a cycling accident.

Hardison had already received more than 70 burn-related surgeries over the decade since his tragic injury in 2001, but none of these returned any sense of normalcy to his life. He finally opted for the surgery after his doctor told him that he could lose his eyesight because of his missing eyelids.

A New Life Thanks to a New Face

Today, Hardison is extremely thankful to the doctors and grateful for the donor who died to make this surgery possible. It has given him a new lease on life. He has said that he can go out with his kids now, which is something he could never do previously without people staring. He was able to enjoy taking them to Disney World fairly recently. He is looking forward with gratitude for this new lease he has on life, and he is extremely thankful for the skill and dedication of the surgeons and the technologies that make such a miracle possible today.
