Mark Peters, MD, FACS
Board Certified Plastic Surgeon |
Dr. Mark Peters is a board certified plastic surgeon and clinical research award winner, specializing in cosmetic and reconstructive procedures of the face and body.
Dr. Peters grew up in Baton Rouge where he graduated from Episcopal High School. At Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, he received a degree in biomedical engineering which provided a challenging and unique foundation for his dream to become a plastic surgeon. This unique field of biomedical engineering made it clear his medical career would be best suited for precision and artistry. He then went to Louisiana State University School of Medicine where he began his medical training.
After completing his medical degree, Dr. Peters moved to Virginia where he began his general surgical residency at Medical College of Virginia. He then completed his five-year general surgical residency training at Saint Luke’s Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio. Following his general surgical training, Dr. Peters was then accepted into the prestigious University of Virginia plastic surgery fellowship. While at the University of Virginia, he was awarded the first Raymond Morgan Clinical Research Award for his work on surgical treatment of gynecomastia. Upon completion of two years of specialized plastic surgery training in 1997, he initially settled in Atlanta where he remained in private practice for four years. In 2001, he and his wife, a Houma native, moved to Houma with their four children where he entered into a solo practice. Since joining the medical community, Dr. Peters has served as vice chairman of the surgery department at Terrebonne General Medical Center and medical director of the Terrebonne General Medical Center Wound Care Clinic. He is on the medical staff at Physicians Surgical Specialty Hospital.
