Brachioplasty, or arm lift, is a procedure designed to remove loose skin and excess fatty deposits from the arms. The skin of the upper arm is usually not as elastic as other areas of the body and becomes loose and flabby with age or significant weight loss. The loose skin is removed and liposuction is performed in order to contour the arms. It does typically require an incision from the axilla (armpit) to the elbow located along the inner part of the arm. Occasionally, the incision can be limited only to the axilla.
I usually require that the patient wear a compression sleeve following the procedure. The patient wears this for approximately 6 weeks. The recovery varies from person to person but expect to take 2-3 weeks before you are able to do the day-to-day chores easily.
